Supply & Installation of Replacement Clamshell Dredge Crane

Tescorp were contracted to this project for their all round engineering expertise and were required to offer a replacement crane on a Cairns Port Authority dredge barge.

After sixty years of service the old Priestman crane was ready to be up dated with modern technology, the new unit meeting all standards of present clamshell operation.

Tescorp sourced a new 50 tonne Hitachi crawler crane from Malaysia which needed to be modified to a pedestal style crane. The tracks were removed and a turret fabricated to adapt the Hitachi to the existing mounting assembly.

Due to increased efficiency and fuel savings the barge has also been made more environmentally friendly, a consideration that needs to be considered with marine applications.
