Evacuation Drive Unit (EDU)

This Evacuation Drive Unit system was designed to replace equipment already in place at the Kareeya Hydro Electric Power Station near Tully.

The system is built around an 18KW Diesel Power Pack designed and built by Tescorp PTY Ltd to transfer personnel or equipment along a cableway.

System operation is simple through a single proportional joystick control; the system itself benefits from the use of a load sensing piston pump, a 4:1 ratio gearbox and a proportional directional control valve.

A specially designed manifold incorporates relief, shuttle and speed control valves.

The unit was designed as a stand alone system designed to be operational during a power failure, hence the use of a diesel engine. The system itself is monitored through the main PLC control unit but is able to run entirely independently if and when required.
